How the worst situation brings the best things to your life.

My life changed 180 degrees when I moved to Canada 7 years ago… and today, I can say that the change was for the best! I’ve learned to get the best out of the worst situations. I became a better friend and wife. A better human being.

I lacked gratitude and complained about everything; no matter if something went well, I always found something wrong to speak about. However, that changed after I learned to embrace, the good, the great, the bad and the worst that Canada, my new home, would bring to my life.

It was 25.07.10. when my husband and I left our family, friends and our own business to seek a better future in Canada, a place that we knew nothing about. We were excited and ready to take over Canada. My husband was about to become an MBA and we were confident that he would find a senior position and make over 70k as soon as he graduated, my plan was to learn English and to become the best graphic designer Canada would know. However, we forgot a piece of the puzzle: Our plans, were not God’s plans. He planned our future so perfect that he wanted to teach us the importance of 5 things before giving us beyond what we prayed so much for over year and half (a decent job and income)

1. Gratitude: It took over a year for my husband to find a job that wasn’t commission based, during that year I learned to be grateful for everything; including the food I had every night over the table. I learned to be grateful for having a home, a husband and a church that today I call “my family”

2. Contentment: During that year of hard-work money stop being an issue, not because we earned more, but because we understood that we had enough to be happy, we started to tweak things so we could enjoy our time together without spending much. Money did not dictate our happiness any more, we were happy with what we had.

3. Faith: During that year I met great people, one of them once told me: you are in a boat, and that boat won’t sink because God is the one sailing it, all you need to do is to do things by his design. I took that word and I started to believe it. One morning, I woke up and told God “you can do as you please, I am tired of doing things my way, I trust you and I know you’ll provide us with the wisdom to remain strong as we get to where you need us to be”. I started to do things by his design and He has never let me down since then.

4. Obedience: To do things by his design required me to be obedient. Instead of complaining about what I did not have, I learned to enjoy what I had, instead of complaining about how cruel the Canadian government was for not giving me a work-permit, I learned that anger and bitterness did not bring a benefit to my life. Obedience made me brave.

5. Perseverance: The courage we have today is so strong that we decided to start our own businesses. One of them is Embrace it; this brand, and the other one is Transforming Business. None of the business are easy to handle but 1.5 years of difficulties made us strong to overcome any challenge. God is with us and who against us

Our plan to move to Canada was great but God’s plan was better. Not only has my husband found an excellent job, but we are both entrepreneurs with 5 valuable strengths that are continuously used to empower others. Back In 25.07.10 I would not have used one of the most difficult situations in my life to help you go through your tough times. Today I am proud to share it. Was the journey easy? Nope, was it worth it? Yes. I would go through everything again to be who I am today. So, thanks God for all I have.

I hope this article helps you to understand that your worse situation is never the worst one.

Love,

Adi :)
